As businesses continue to contend with the effects of the pandemic, SAP has further extended open access to its buyer-supplier matching solution, SAP Ariba Discovery, enabling buyers to post sourcing needs and any of the more than five million suppliers on Ariba Network to respond with no fees through September 30, 2021.

Usage of SAP Ariba Discovery skyrocketed when SAP initially opened access by dropping the supplier response fee in March 2020. Since then, it has steadily increased and continues to prove its value in accelerating connections between buyers looking for new sources of supply and suppliers that can fulfill the need for goods and services.

Since the promotion launch on March 10, new buyer registrations globally on SAP Ariba Discovery have increased more than 180%, new supplier registrations have increased nearly 4000% and supplier responses to buyer postings have increased by over 200% (as of October 25, 2020, compared to the pre-promotion period of January 1 – March 9, 2020).

SAP Ariba Discovery has facilitated buyer-supplier connections that have kept many supply chains intact during the pandemic. In one example, one of the world’s leading food and beverage companies had an urgent need to secure personal protective equipment (PPE) at the onset of the pandemic as it focused on protecting its employees. Pressed for time, the company turned to SAP Ariba Discovery to connect with new sources of supply. Within three days, the company was able to locate suppliers and source the PPE it needed to ensure business continuity at its production facilities.
